The deal means Collins is now officially the first openly gay active player in any of the four major sports organisations — NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL — in the US.
He is expected to make his debut against the LA Lakers tonight.
The 35 year old has been without a team since announcing he was gay in April 2013.
